Social Betterment Organizations

In 1990, there were 251 social betterment groups using the technology Mr. Hubbard developed in the fields of drug and criminal rehabilitation, education and ethics. This has expanded to 1,002 in 2006.

In 2001, the Narconon Arrowhead International Rehabilitation and Training Center was established in Oklahoma, the largest rehab facility in the United States, both to directly help the addicted and to train others to do the same world over. The numbers they are helping with this program have already increased by 14 times since their grand opening. With 163 centers, Narconon now runs the largest residential rehabilitation network on Earth. The churches of Scientology also run the largest anti-drug education campaign in the world.

In 2003, a massive, 100-acre educator training campus was established by Applied Scholastics International (APS) in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2005, APS opened another 137 new schools and study groups, including those in remote lands like Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Slovakia, now totaling more than 590 centers and schools.

Since opening their new campus, Applied Scholastics has already doubled the number of teachers they have trained, now numbering more than 80,000.

In 2003, a new International Headquarters for The Way to Happiness Foundation opened in Glendale, California, to coordinate the worldwide network. There are now more than 165 foundation chapters. Hundreds of organizations and governments have adopted official programs utilizing the book. It is further in use in more than 1900 prisons worldwide through the Criminon program. The “Set a Good Example Contest” based on its precepts has reached 10 million students in 12,000 schools. And The Way to Happiness is now published in 92 languages, including Braille, with over 65 million copies distributed in more than 120 nations.
